Majority of Londoners Expect Olympics Transport Problems
Date: 23 May 2012
A recent poll by research company Populus for the AA suggests that the majority of Londoners expect transport systems to have problems during this summer's London Olympics and Paralympics.
When polled, just 16% of Londoners agreed with the phrase 'I think the transport system will cope' - the highest proportion nationally - yet only 12% (5% nationally) said they would work from home for some or all of the games to avoid the disruption.
Commenting on the research, Work Wise UK CEO Phil Flaxton said "With an anticipated 3.3 million additional journeys expected on the games' busiest days and TFL predicting that London's transport systems will need to see a 30% decrease in commuter numbers just to keep the systems from experiencing severe disruption, these figures show that more employers need to take all available opportunities to become more efficient by enabling staff to work more flexibly."
