Synopsis:

The Challenge: How do you address the internal challenges of managing a traditional legal department in a smarter fashion. 

The Solution: Ensure that there is enough physical contact to ensure a remote worker is made to feel part of the team. Ensure that the gaps left by the removal of support (specifically in IT) are filled and schedule regular opportunities for the team to get together physically and professionally.

The Results: Most of BT's legal Department for Global Services UK work flexibly. This flexible working policy has contributed  significantly to its ability to retain staff, notably 98% of those who take maternity leave decide to return to the company at the end of that leave.
