TMB Work Wise Adviser Profile - Andy Sinden
Since graduating, with Honours, in Psychology at Manchester University, and obtaining his Diploma in Business Administration from Manchester Business School, Andy's career has given him experience of working in and with all sizes and types of organisation, working extensively throughout Europe, the USA, South Africa, South America, the Far East and Australia, as well as the UK.

Since 2001 Andy has helped more than 500 small companies (less than 50 employees and often less than 10) become more effective in what they do, in the South West of England, South Wales, the Midlands, and Southern Ireland. He enjoys helping companies through moments of change - from helping them think through what needs to be changed, to how it should be done and then helping them do it.

Since 1992 Andy has used technology to help himwork with colleagues and customers across the world, staying in touch and creating a feeling of involvement even though he may not see them for weeks at a time.

To make flexible working really successful the psychology of communication is very important in order that workers, customers and colleagues do not feel 'short-changed' or ignored.  There are also the important social consequences for the flexible worker to take into account - how can the MD ensure staff used to routinely working in the office still feel part of the Company when they do not mix so often on a face-to-face basis with colleagues or customers?  How frequently should clients be contacted and how? Andy has vast experience of these aspects of flexible working.

Better manufacturing efficiency and stock control, sales improvement, IT changes, and organisational improvement, are examples of what Andy can help with when flexible working is being considered - helping achieve more, at lower cost, and in less time.
