I am an independent IT adviser with over 25 years' industry experience. I have advised both large and small organisations in implementing flexible working and, indeed, use this approach myself in my own day-to-day working.
I can provide you with the following advice:
- How to overcome the cultural barriers of introducing flexible working and how to put new processes in place to make the most of this new way of working
- What you need to do to ensure your employees' health and safety is taken into account
- When to make use of web-based technology for video conferencing and when to avoid it
- How to choose between the vast range of mobile and wireless technology ensuring that this becomes a vital tool to meet your business needs rather than an expensive toy
- Ensuring that you are aware of the security implications of adopting this technology and take the necessary precautions to reduce risk
In the last year I have:
- Implemented a secure remote working facility for a Government organisation which has allowed office based users to make use of the main office network while on the move; this has allowed employees to spend more time working from home, thus reducing their travel requirements and freeing up expensive office space
- Introduced a secure extranet and WebMail facility for home-based associates for the same Government organisation; this has provided a secure means of exchanging sensitive information and streamlined the way these associates communicate with their colleagues by eliminating the need for wasteful clerical message taking and forwarding
